DEFENSIO’ 23 INAUGURATES

The charter installation ceremony of the first Leo Club of Defence Marshals was launched as DEFENSIO’23 yesterday evening (13th August 2023) with the gracious presence of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil as the chief guest at Sappers Leisure Bay, Mattegoda.

The Leo Club of Defence Marshals is a community based Leo Club which was installed under Lions Club District 306 C2 having the primary focus to gather the next generation and train them with leadership qualities. The primary vision of the club is to be an innovative club movement by creating a platform for youngsters to get a demo experience of real society.

The CDS during his address as the chief guest, stated that the peace we cherish was earned with numerous sacrifices of gallant war heroes and the sons and daughters of such a generation should be proud of themselves. Stressing the importance of taking part in such a well recognised international organisation, General Shavendra Silva invited to enhance and enrich the leadership qualities in these young generations. Further, he stated that societies such as Leo Club provide the best platforms to be ready for the challenging future world.

The ceremony was attended by Major General Chagie Gallage (Rdt) WWV RWP RSP USP VSV USAWC as one of the Guests of Honour along with a few other pioneer members of the club. Maj Gen Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, and some of the prominent members of the club participated as special guests of the occasion.
