THE DELEGATION FROM THE NIGERIAN NDC VISITS OCDS

A delegation from the Nigerian National Defence College (NDC), which is currently on Geo-Strategic World Study Tour to Sri Lanka, paid a visit to the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) in order to meet the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil this morning (26 April 2023).

Out of the seventeen-member delegation, five members comprising of the head of the delegation Air Cdre Osichinaka Chedu UBADIKE, Defence Attaché of the Nigeria to Sri Lanka, two members from the Directing Staff at the Nigerian National Defence College, and the senior most student officer participated in the visit to the OCDS. The delegation arrived in the country on 23 April 2023 and is scheduled to call on the Commander of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, and a few other state officials during their stay in Sri Lanka.

General Shavendra Silva extended a warm welcome to the delegation and exchanged views on the defence-related matters. Expressing the views, the CDS stated that being the highest level of defence studies, the NDC has the undeniable responsibility of moulding strategic leaders for the betterment of the Nation.

The delegation was also requested to share the experience on the battlefield and how ruthless terrorism was defeated. Further, the delegation inquired about the military support extended towards the Nation Building and Disaster Management which was a success, particularly in the recent past. During the discussions, they also centred on broadening training opportunities and course materials. A special focus was paid to military training modules that suit fast-changing world trends and military scenarios in the world.

Towards the end of the interactive meet, General Shavendra Silva presented a symbolic memento to the visiting Nigerian delegation and the Team Leader reciprocated by presenting a memento to CDS to mark the visit.
