EMBASSY OF JAPAN IN SRI LANKA HOSTS RECEPTION IN CELEBRATION OF EMPEROR'S BIRTHDAY

The Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka hosted a grand reception in commemorating the Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor at the Official Residence of the Ambassador in Colombo yesterday evening (21 February 2024). The spectacular evening was a testament to the enduring friendship and cultural ties between Japan and Sri Lanka.

At the invitation extended by the Ambassador of Japan His Excellency Mizukoshi Hideaki and Mrs Mizukoshi Mariko, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil graced the reception along with his spouse Mrs Sujeewa Nelson. They were warmly welcomed at the entrance, where they exchanged pleasantries and well wishes with the hosts and fellow guests.

The reception also provided an opportunity for diplomatic exchange, as CDS engaged in discussions with participants, exchanging thoughts on various matters of mutual interest. The ambiance was filled with traditional Japanese décor, music, and cuisine, creating a unique experience for all attendees.

As the evening unfolded, attendees had the chance to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture and traditions while forging new connections and friendships. The reception served as a platform for cultural exchange and collaboration, further enhancing the longstanding relationship between Japan and Sri Lanka.

The evening was also attended by Ambassadors/ High Commissioners, former presidents, Opposition Leader, Ministers, a number of Parliamentarians, Diplomats, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Senior Tri-Service Officers, senior government officials, and distinguished invitees.
