GCSP REPRESENTATIVE CALLS ON CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF
The Switzerland based Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), Associate Fellow for Regional Development programme Colonel (Retd) Andre H. Zumstein, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne this evening( 25, Sep). The GCSP representative was accompanied by the non-residential Defence Attaché to Sri Lanka Colonel General Staff(GS) Christof Gertsch. A cordial discussion was held on matters of mutual interests especially on aspects relating to training opportunities to Sri Lanka military personnel for professional development. The Chief of Defence Staff also stressed that Sri Lanka is better poised given the existing peace to share the experiences in dealing with asymmetric threats. The possibility of increased participation in Peacekeeping missions was also asserted by Admiral Wijegunaratne. Following the discussion mementos were exchanged to mark the occasion.
