GENERAL SHAVENDRA SILVA HONORED AT FRIGATE 056 DURING CHINA VISIT

As a sign of enduring the Armed Forces partnership of Sri Lankan and China, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP psc ndc MPhil was invited to tour the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy Frigate 056 at the Xinzhou Wharf during his visit to attend the ‘10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum’ in China.

CDS received a special honour during his visit to Frigate 056 as per Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy traditions. His presence and the salute he received onboard further solidified the strong alliance between the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka and China. The Frigate 056 is a symbol of China's naval prowess, and CDS’s visit served to strengthen and a testament to the mutual respect and collaboration that exists.

The Commanding Officer briefed the role and tasks of the Frigate where CDS congratulated the Commanding Officer and the crew for its successful carry out of missions.

Sri Lankan Defence Advisor in China Colonel Bandula Kodippily together with Defence Attaché of China in Sri Lanka Senior Colonel Zhou Bo accompanied the CDS and the delegation through the visit.

Towards the end of the visit onboard, CDS and the Commanding Officer of the Frigate exchanged mementos.
