GENERAL ZUBAIR MAHMOOD, CHAIRMAN JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF COMMITTEE PAKISTAN PAYS CALLS ON CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

Pakistan Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, NI (M) paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra C.Wijegunaratne, Thursday (28 June, 2018) at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) at BMICH.\r\n\r\nThe call-on was preceded by a Tri-Services Guard of Honour presented to General Zubair Mahmood at the main ceremonial premises at BMICH.\r\n\r\nSubsequently, a cordial discussion was held between the two officials, on matters of enhancing defence cooperation especially in the areas of increasing training opportunities to Sri Lanka tri-services personnel and on potential areas for expert knowledge exchange.\r\n\r\nMementos were also exchanged signifying the occasion. Brigadier Imtanan Babar,Pakistan Defence Advisor Colonel Sajjad Ali, Captain Hasham Ghafoor were also present at the event.\r\n\r\nGeneral Zubair Hayat is currently on a four day official visit to Sri Lanka following an invitation extended to him by his Sri Lankan counterpart.\r\n\r\nGeneral Hayat, is the 17th CJCSC of Pakistan is also the senior most four star military officer of the Islamic republic.\r\n\r\nHailing from a military family General Zubair Mahmood Hayat had joined the Pakistan Army in 1976 and since had held various Command and Staff appointments. He is a graduate from the Fort Sill Oklahoma USA, Command and Staff College Camberely, UK and the National Defence University Islamabad. He is also a recipient of the Humanities Gold Medal, Master Gunner and Master War Fighter awards.\r\n\r\nGeneral Hayat was promoted to the present rank on 27th November, 2016.
