A GRAND GET-TOGETHER OF ARFRO CELEBRATES THE CONTRIBUTIONS AND CAMARADERIE OF RETIRED FLAG-RANK OFFICERS

In an impressive display of honour and camaraderie, the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) hosted a momentous get-together last evening (6 April) at the Officer’s Mess premises of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers regimental center, Colombo, marking a significant milestone in the collective journey of retired flag-rank officers. With a rich tapestry of experience and a legacy of service spanning decades, these distinguished individuals gathered to celebrate their invaluable contributions to the nation and to rekindle the bonds of fellowship that endure beyond their active service.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, honoured the occasion by gracing as the guest of honour.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil graced the occasion as an honoured guest, accepting the cordial invitation extended by the incumbent president of the ARFRO, Air Chief Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala (Retd) RWP RSP VSV USP MPhil (Def & Strat) MSc (Def Stud) FIM (SL) ndc psc. Upon arrival, the ARFRO president warmly welcomed the CDS and spouse, Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson, expressing heartfelt appreciation for their presence at the event.

To commence the proceedings, the ARFRO President delivered a welcome speech cordially welcoming the distinguished guest of honour and all the esteemed invitees, setting the tone for an evening of solidarity and celebration. Then the forum was opened for engaging conversations and shared reflections, as members embraced the opportunity to reconnect and forge new connections in the spirit of companionship.

During the session, General Shavendra Silva graciously engaged in enlightening discussions with the esteemed members of ARFRO, offering a valuable platform for exchanging perspectives, experiences, and expertise. The CDS, while sharing his views and insights on various matters, attentively considered the diverse experiences and perspectives of ARFRO members during the conversations. The evening was also graced by the presence of commanders of the tri-services, as well as the charming ladies of the invitees and the ARFRO members.
