THE HIGH COMMISSION OF PAKISTAN RECALLS BILATERAL RELATIONS WITH SRI LANKA DURING PAKISTAN DAY CELEBRATIONS

Pakistan Day is celebrated each year on 23 March in Pakistan to commemorate the ‘Lahore Resolution’ of 1940, which is also known as the ‘Pakistan Resolution,’ which ultimately led to the establishment of Pakistan.

The High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan yesterday (21 March 2023) celebrated their upcoming Pakistan Day along with the 75 years of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the BMICH, Colombo. The charming event was graced with the presence of Honorable Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, the Minister of Agriculture as the chief guest.

At the invitation of the High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Major General (Retd.) Umar Farooq Burki, HI(M), the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil attended the event along with his spouse Mrs Sujeewa Nelson to convey warm wishes on the special occasion. On arrival, General Shavendra Silva together with his spouse was warmly welcomed by the High Commissioner.

The event was also attended by former Presidents of Sri Lanka, the Speaker of the Parliament, Tri-Service Commanders, Diplomats and many high-profile dignitaries.
