INAUGURAL MILITARY ENGINEERING CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN WELISARA

College of Military Engineering and Technology in Sri Lanka marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its first-ever Military Engineering Conference today (16th February) at the Wave n’ Lake Navy Hall in Welisara. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of General Kamal Gunarathne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil as the Chief Guest.

Delivering the keynote speech of the conference, Dr Sanjiva Weerawarna, the CEO of WSO2 invited to develop awareness in the field of modern technology whilst laying a solid foundation to flow the day’s programme. Following the address by the chief guest, the official launch of the e-Journal took place by unveiling the journal's website.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil who graced the occasion at the invitation extended by the President of the Executive Committee, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasighe and Members of the College was warmly welcomed and received at the entrance.

During the inauguration ceremony of the conference, the CDS extended his congratulations to the President of the college for organizing such a momentous conference. Also, the CDS took the opportunity to congratulate the new inventors and the organizers for their commendable efforts and contributions to military engineering that would determine the further enhancement of the country’s Armed Forces.

One of the highlights of the day’s programme was the conference titled 'Engineering for Future: Managing Modern Challenges in Military Technology and Engineering' that developed fruitful discourse on numerous innovative projects and inventions related to military engineering, featuring the contributions of innovators and their groundbreaking ideas.

The event was attended by Commanders of the Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force, senior Tri-Service officers, and various distinguished invitees including engineers and scholars, further emphasizing the importance of the engineering domain in the military.

The inaugural Military Engineering Conference hosted by the College of Military Engineering and Technology in Sri Lanka served as a platform for sharing insights, fostering innovation, and addressing contemporary challenges in the field of military technology and engineering.
