INDEPENDENCE DAY FINAL PREPARATIONS MADE

The forthcoming 73rd Independence Day rehearsals were reviewed by the Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of National Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Chamal Rajapaksa at Independence Square today morning (Feb 2).

Hon. Minister in the company of the Secretary Ministry of Defence and State Ministry of National Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and Tri-Forces chiefs witnessed the comprehensive flow of the event along with its preparations.

Gen. Gunaratne carefully reviewed the parading, military formations, armoured vehicles, security and healthcare arrangements, fly pass, cultural display, seating preparation etc. at the venue.

Discussions into the areas requiring improvements were also held during the session.

Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Inspector General of Police, Chandana Wickramaratne, Director General of the Civil Security Department Maj. Gen. Nandana Senadeera, Additional Secretary (Defence) PBSC Nonis, state officials and senior military officials were also present.
