INDIAN ARMY HIGHER COMMAND COURSE DELEGATION VISITS OCDS

The Indian Army Higher Command Course delegation led by Air Commodore Suresh Hollannavar paid an acquaintance visit at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff this morning (25, Sep). The visiting delegation of 16 Indian military officers was received by the Director General-General Staff, Major General Nirmal Dharmaratne. A presentation on the role, responsibilities and organization structure of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff was conducted by Director Operations (OCDS) Brigadier Vikum Liyanage. Subsequently, the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne took time for a cordial interaction with the Higher Command Course officers. During his brief discussion with the Indian Military delegation, Chief of Defence Staff reiterated the historical ties of both the nations and also the strategic landscape with special reference to the regional stability and peace. He also emphasized the importance of jointness among military forces and the challenges for armed forces in the midst of non-traditional security threats. Following the discussion mementos were exchanged signifying the occasion. The Indian Higher Command Course is scheduled to meet with armed forces Chiefs and visit key military institutions during the stay in the island.
