INDIAN CHIEF OF AIR STAFF, AIR CHIEF MARSHAL BS DHANOA CALLS-ON CDS

The Indian Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa PVSM AVSM YSM VM ADC paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne, at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) at the BIMCH today (11th December, 2017). A cordial discussion was held between the two officials on matters of bilateral interests and significance especially on training and exchange of expert knowledge. Over the years India continues to be the prime training facilitator for the Sri Lankan Armed Forces personnel. Subsequent to the discussion, mementos were exchanged marking the occasion. ACM Birender S Dhanoa took over as the Chief of the Air Staff on 01st January, 2017. He was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in June 1978 as a fighter pilot and is an alumnus of Rashtriya Indian Military College, the National Defence Academy and the Defence Services Staff College at Wellington. In recognition of his meritorious services he was awarded Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) and Vayusena Medal (VM) in 1999 and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) in 2015 by the President of India. He was appointed Honorary ADC to the President of India on 01st August, 2015 and awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) in 2016 by the President of India.
