INDIAN COAST GUARD CHIEF PAYS COURTESY CALL ON CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

Director General Rajendra Singh of the Indian Coast Guard paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) at BMICH, this evening ( 09th May, 2018). Director General Rajendra Singh is currently in the island on an official visit to attend the 3rd round of High Level meeting between the Sri Lanka Coast Guard and the Indian Coast Guard from 09th -11th May, 2018. A cordial discussion ensued between the two officials on matters of bilateral security cooperation including training and exchange of expert knowledge. The Indian Coast Guard was instrumental in the development of the Sri Lankan Coast Guard into a force to reckon in policing the Sri Lankan territorial waters. Mementos were also exchanged subsequent to the discussion. Director General Rajendra Singh had joined the Indian Coast Guard in 1980 and has commanded every class of Indian coastal platform in service. He was also awarded with the Indian President 's ‘Tatrakshak Medal ' on 15th August, 2007 for his commitment and service to the Indian Coast Guard.
