INDIAN DEFENCE ADVISER PAYS COURTESY CALL-ON CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF
Captain Ashok Rao,Defence Adviser, to the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka called on the Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra C.Wijegunaratne at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff this morning (22, Sep).
A cordial discussion was held on a range of matters of mutual interests and bilateral importance during this meeting.
Mementos were also exchanged subsequent to the discussion held.
The Indian Government has long being facilitating basic and advanced training of the Sri Lankan armed forces and to date is the principal defence training provider to the island. The Government of India is also assisting as a significant stakeholder in the Sri Lankan Navy 's fleet modernization programme, an initiative that materialized into reality by Admiral Wijegunaratne in 2015, as the Commander of the Navy.
