INDIAN DEFENCE ADVISER VISITS CDS

In a diplomatic exchange of gestures aimed at fostering bilateral ties, the Defence Advisers of the High Commission of India to Sri Lanka, Captain M Anand and the Assistant Defence Adviser Lieutenant Colonel Mandeep Singh Negi paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil today (05 April) morning.

The CDS warmly welcomed the visiting Defence Advisers and conveyed his sincere appreciation for the gesture of the visit. During their productive meeting, the CDS expressed genuine admiration for the enduring and significant historical ties that have characterized the Indo-Sri Lanka military relationship. They engaged in fruitful discussions regarding the upcoming military training initiatives and the impending visit of tri-services personnel to India, highlighting the commitment to enhancing bilateral military cooperation between the two nations.

At the same time, the DA took the opportunity to extend a cordial invitation to General Shavendra Silva to partake in the forthcoming Defence seminar themed 'India-Sri Lanka Defence Co-operation: Identifying New Opportunities and Forging New Bonds', slated for 10th April 2024, at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo. General Shavendra Silva graciously shared his insights, expressing admiration for the diligent efforts of the Indian authorities and underscoring the timely importance of the seminar as a pivotal platform aimed at acquainting the hierarchy of the Sri Lankan armed forces and entrepreneurs with the latest advancements in Indian defence manufacturing.

The exchange reflects the ongoing efforts of both nations to strengthen their defence cooperation and forge deeper bonds. As the date of the seminar approaches, anticipation grows for fruitful discussions and the exploration of new avenues for collaboration between India and Sri Lanka in the realm of defence.
