MAJ GEN NIRMAL DHARMARATNE APPOINTED CHIEF OF STAFF (COS) AT OCDS
Major General Nirmal Ajith Dharmaratne WWV, RWP, RSP, MSc(SL), MSc(USA), psc. AMIPM(SL) assumed office as the Chief of Staff at the OCDS this morning(14th December, 2017).\r\n\r\nPrior being appointed to the new office, Maj Gen Nirmal Dharmaratne was serving as the Director General, General Services(DGGS) at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff(OCDS). \r\n\r\nDuring his 30 odd years of military service Maj Gen Dharmaratne has served on both operational and staff appointments including Divisional Commander of 55 and 12 Divisions. He also served as the Commander of the Special Forces Brigade from 2007-2009. In addition, he has also served as the Defence Advisor to the Sri Lankan High Commission in United Kingdom. \r\n\r\nMajor General Dharmaratne is a recipient of the Weera Wickrama Wibushanaya(WWV) , Rana Wickrama Padakkama(RWP) and Rana Soora Padakkama(RSP) gallantry awards for distinguished act of valour at the battlefront.\r\n\r\nIn addition, he has also received the 'Golden Eagle ' honours for service in the Sri Lanka Army Special Forces (SF). He is also an experienced Sky-Diver, with a feat of 160 free-fall parachute jumps.\r\n
