MAJOR GENERAL NISHANTHA MANAGE CONVEYS GRATITUDE TO THE CDS AT THE FAREWELL CALL ON

Major General Nishantha Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, having completed over 35 years of service to the motherland paid a farewell call on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil hours prior to his retirement at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) today evening (17 August).

Major General Nishantha Manage held the appointments of Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, and Colonel of the Regiment, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) by the time of his retirement. The senior officer had also served under the command of the CDS in a few key appointments particularly as Director General General Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and one of the Commanding Officers when the present CDS was the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and Commander of the Air Mobile Brigade respectively.

During the call on, Major General Nishantha Manage conveyed his gratitude to the CDS for all his guidance and assistance extended to him throughout his military career, and he stressed that they were the main pillars that enabled him to become successful. Further, the retiring senior officer stated that the leadership and mentor of the CDS are exemplary to any officer who wishes for a successful military career. He also added that the unique leadership style of the CDS provides the best platform for any officer to be groomed and succeed.

General Shavendra Silva appreciated the over 35 years of dedicated service rendered by the senior officer to the Sri Lanka Army and nation. CDS also stated that the senior officer should feel privileged and happy to retire having held the appointments of Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, and Colonel of the Regiment of the great Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment in the rank of Major General. CDS had not forgotten to thank the spouse of the retiring senior officer, Mrs Kumudu Manage for her commitment and contribution to the Army Seva Vanitha Unit when he was the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army. Finally, the CDS wished Major General Manage a successful retired life and the spouse and family for a brighter future ahead.

Towards the end, General Shavendra Silva presented a token of memento to mark the occasion.
