MAJOR GENERAL ROBIN JAYASURIYA PAYS A FAREWELL CALL ON CDS

Paying his gratitude, the Rector of the Southern Campus of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Major General Robin Jayasuriya RSP ndc psc made a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil prior to the retirement at his office today morning (10 November 2023).

On the arrival, the CDS warmly welcomed the retiring senior officer to the office whilst appreciating the courtesy of the senior officer to pay a farewell visit to the senior most serving Army officer. Acknowledging his professionalism and exemplary service, General Shavendra Silva appreciated Major General Robin Jayasuriya's invaluable contributions throughout his distinguished career. He particularly commended the tenures of Major General Robin held as one of the Directors and Colonel Commandants of one of the elite regiments in the Sri Lanka Army.

Similarly, CDS appreciated the gentlemen qualities of the retiring senior officer. He highlighted that from the very beginning of his career, Major General Robin was known for his capabilities, capacities and exhibited his ability to hold key career appointments. The visiting senior officer who secured his position as the batch top in the basic cadet intake proved his exceptional abilities by his former appointment held being a Military Assistant to a former Commander of the Army.

In response to these heartfelt accolades, Major General Robin Jayasuriya, with humility and gratitude, thanked General Shavendra Silva for his guidance and support throughout his military journey. He expressed his deep appreciation for the trust and confidence that the CDS had placed in him, a trust that endured until the final day of his dedicated service.

General Shavendra Silva also appreciated the service of Mrs. Rajitha Jayasuriya, the spouse of the retiring senior officer for her service extended to the Army Seva Vanitha Unit in numerous means when the CDS was the Commander of Army. CDS extended heartfelt best wishes to Major General Robin Jayasuriya and family as he embarks on this new chapter in life and thanked him for his invaluable service to our nation and armed forces.

Towards the end of the call on, CDS presented a memento to mark the occasion and Major General Robin reciprocated.
