MALDIVIAN DEFENCE ADVISOR PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

Maldivian Defence Advisor (DA) of the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives in Colombo, Colonel Hassan Amir paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil today morning (23 November 2023) with a message from the former Minister of Defence, Republic of Maldives at Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS).

The CDS extended a warm welcome to the visiting Defence Advisor and appreciated his customary military gesture of renewing the firmly established bilateral military relations between the two island nations.

Handing over a letter from the former Minister of Defence, Republic of Maldives Ms Mariya Didi addressed to General Shavendra Silva, the DA thanked the CDS for the warm welcome and time.

In the former Maldivian Defence Minister’s letter, she has expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the continued support of the CDS and contributions towards defence cooperation between the two nations during her tenure. She has also stated that both nations have been able to positively contribute towards peace and stability in the Indian Ocean Region making ties stronger and deeper than ever. In the letter, the former Defence Minister has specifically thanked General Shavendra Silva for the pivotal role he played in facilitating the training engagements and exercises of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

The cordial meeting terminated with the assurance of continued collaboration where the Defence Advisor expressed his gratitude to CDS for the continued assistance rendered at all times.
