MORE COVID-19 INFECTED PERSONS REPORTED - NOCPCO

A total of 739 persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 within the course of the day on Tuesday (6) after the new cluster broke out on Sunday (4). Among them, 729 persons were locally identified from Gampaha-Minuwangoda Garment factory and their associates and 10 others were those who arrived from overseas. Accordingly, the new cluster of COVID-19 positive cases reported as a total after Sunday (4) stands at 832 as of this morning (07). Those expatriates are from Japan (01) at Galle Temple Tree QC, One (01) civil Indian seafarers at Colombo Cinnamon Grand QC, five (05) persons from UAE at Kataragama Mandara Hotel QC, Dickwella Resort QC, Hambantota Sooriya Resort, one (01) person from Maldives at Galle Temple Tree QC and one (01) person from Japan at Army General Service Corps QC, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO). By 6.00 this morning (7), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda Garment factory is 832. The flight EK 9473 from South Korea with 285 persons has arrived by this morning (07) and all of them were to be sent to QCs for necessary quarantining. Within the day (7), 46 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 03 persons are from Jetwing Beach QC, 06 from Jetwing Lagoon QC, 01 from Hotel Blue Waters QC, 06 from Hotel Mirage QC, 12 persons from Rajagiriya Ayurveda QC and 18 from Diyagama Sports complex QC. Likewise, 49,416 individuals by this morning (7) have been sent back home so far after quarantining. As of this morning (7), 7356 persons in 77 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (6), 950 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 298,501. By 6.00 this morning (7), 07 fully recovered COVID-19 affected persons went back to their homes from hospitals. All of them are expatriates who were in quarantine. The total number of fully-recovered detainees in quarantine at Kandakadu and Senapura Treatment and Rehabilitation Centres for Drug Addicts stands at 650. (Ends)
