NATIONAL DATA OPERATION CENTRE FOR FOOD SECURITY AND THE NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF THE PEOPLE ASSEMBLED

The first meeting of the National Data Operation Centre for Food Security and the Nutritional Status of the People was co-headed by the Senior Advisor to the President on Food Security Dr Suren Batagoda with the Chief of Defence Staff and Head of the Green Agriculture Operations Centre General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil at the Green Agriculture Operations Centre on 14 February 2023.

The meeting was mainly aimed at developing a modern information system that would ease access to information related to the needy community that requires assistance with food security and nutrition.

During the meeting, the Senior Advisor to the President on Food Security and Chief of Defence Staff emphasized the need of obtaining accurate data on food security and the nutritional status of the people for implementation of the projected plan. The professional intellectuals who were present shared their views and knowledge enriching the discussions to effectively address the national need.

The meeting was also attended by senior officials from the Presidential Secretariat, Finance Ministry, Department of Census and Statistics, Department of National Planning, Department of Agriculture, and a number of public officials.
