Newly appointed Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China, His Excellency Yi Xiangliang called on General Jagath Jayasuriya, the Chief of Defence Staff at 1530 hours on 24 April 2015. During the cordial discussion with the CDS, HE the Ambassador recalled the longstanding historical relations between China and Sri Lanka and reiterated the need to strengthen the existing relations. The CDS expressed his gratitude to HE the Ambassador for providing a large number of training opportunities for Sri Lankan Armed Forces. HE the Ambassador said that China would continue to provide military training assistance to Sri Lankan Armed Forces in future as well. The meeting culminated with the exchange of mementoes to mark the visit.
