NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL OF CIVIL SECURITY DEPARTMENT PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

The newly-appointed Director General (DG) of the Civil Security Department (CSD) Air Vice Marshal Roshan Biyanwila VSV, USP, MBA (UK), ndc (Ind), psc this morning (18 August 2023) paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff premises.

He took over as the new DG at the CSD on 16 August 2023. Before taking over duties at the new appointment, he was serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The new DG during the cordial discussion, thanked the CDS for the opportunity and time. The visiting senior officer requested continued support from the Tri-Services and assistance and guidance from the CDS to accomplish the duties of the new appointment.

General Shavendra Silva extended his best wishes to the new DG for his new appointment and he stated that he is happy and has confidence in the potential of the senior officer. The CDS, during the brief interaction, explained the initial intention of forming the Civil Service Department in the 1980s and the present concept of the department. Further, General Shavendra Silva elaborated on how the CSD should be shaped to meet the vision of His Excellency the President. Toward the end of the discussion, CSD assured his fullest support to the new DG to discharge his duties effectively.

They also exchanged mementos to symbolize the first official meeting and as a gesture of goodwill.
