THE NEW INDIAN ASSISTANT DEFENCE ADVISER CALLS ON THE CDS

In a testament to the enduring traditions of diplomatic relations, Lieutenant Colonel Mandeep Singh Negi, the newly appointed Assistant Defence Adviser (DA) of India to Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy visit to General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) today (18 Dec 23) at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS).

The atmosphere during the call on was one of warmth and cordiality as the CDS extended a hearty welcome to the Assistant DA and congratulated him on the recent appointment. General Shavendra Silva took the opportunity to elucidate the pivotal role the new Assistant DA would play in his capacity. During the discussions, General Shavendra Silva urged Lieutenant Colonel Singh to collaborate closely with Sri Lankan officials to address the evolving demands that serve the interests of both nations. The CDS emphasized the significance of the diplomatic mission and assured continued support to facilitate a smooth transition into the new responsibilities. He also fondly recalled the valuable contributions of the previous Assistant DA. CDS invited the new Assistant DA to explore the beauty of the country during his tenure in Sri Lanka.

In response, Lieutenant Colonel Mandeep expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the importance of General Silva's guidance in fulfilling his new duties and responsibilities effectively. He sought continued assistance and insights, highlighting the need for a collaborative approach to the shared objectives of both countries.

The call on culminated with an exchange of mementoes, symbolizing the goodwill and camaraderie between India and Sri Lanka.
