NEW NAVY COMMANDER VICE ADMIRAL SIRIMEVAN RANASINGHE CALLS-ON CDS

The newly appointed Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe called-on the Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff(OCDS), at BMICH today (01 November, 2017).\r\n\r\nThis marks the new Navy Chief 's first official meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff since assuming duty as the 22nd Commander of the Navy, last week. \r\n\r\nDuring the cordial discussion, Admiral Wijegunaratne conveyed his best wishes to the new Navy Commander. \r\n\r\nSubsequent to the discussion mementos were also exchanged signifying the occasion.\r\n\r\nVice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet on 15 November 1982 and underwent his basic training at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe is the recipient of the prestigious Sword of Honour as the Best Cadet of the 11th Intake of Officer Cadets.\r\n\r\nPrior to being appointed as the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admrial Sirimevan Ranasinghe served as the Naval Chief of Staff for over 2 1/2 years.\r\n
