NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERAL ARANGALLA CALLS ON THE CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

The newly promoted Major General Chandana Arangalla psc wearing the new insignias paid a courtesy call on the senior most serving military officer, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) at his office today (21 February 2024).

Warmly welcoming the newly promoted two star general to the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS), the CDS conveyed his warm congratulations. Speaking further, General Shavendra Silva commended the service of the senior officer, particularly assisting the nation during its challenging times as the Brigadier Coordinator at the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) and later to promote green agriculture as the Director of the newly formed Green Agriculture Operations Centre. General Shavendra Silva also stated that the promotions in the career ladder bring added responsibilities in discharging duties and assured his assistance whenever required.

Major General Arangalla thanked the CDS in return for the warm reception and wishes. He also paid his gratitude for the trust the CDS has kept on him whilst entrusting the responsibilities and stated that the advice and guidance of the most experienced serving officer of the country assisted in shaping the career to reach this success. The newly promoted senior officer also requested the continued guidance and assistance of CDS in time to come.
