The annual Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival organized by the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff was held this morning (10 April 2015) at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls College Grounds, Colombo 7. The New Year Festival which was held for the second consecutive year had many traditional and fun filled \"Avurudu\" games and events which provided a wonderful opportunity for the staff of the OCDS to relax and enjoy. The proceedings of the day were inaugurated by General Jagath Jayasuriya, the Chief of Defence Staff who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The highlight of the festival was the Tug of War competition where the officers team emerged as champions defeating the mighty Commando team two pulls to none surprising every one present.
