OCDS CELEBRATES THE WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY

‘The World Children’s Day’ of this year is celebrated under the theme of ‘A better future for every child’. Correctly understanding the real potential of the future generation, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Office of Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS), under the patronage of the President Mrs Sujeewa Nelson has been able to give a real meaning to the celebrations by organising a programme at the Maithree Children Development Centre, Borella. The location for the programme was carefully selected as the team could become the parents of those who miss them most.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil along with Mrs Sujeewa Nelson the President of Seva Vanitha Branch, OCDS graced the occasion. The programme commenced with warm and stunning welcome dance performed by the cute girls of the centre.

During the programme, all the kids could enjoy refreshments which also include Pizza, Sweet Caramel Roll Pack, and a Bombay Sweet Pack. They were also provided with a special Biryani buffet lunch by the Seva Vanitha Branch of the OCDS.

Every child is unique and talented. To sharpen the hidden talents in the kids, they were gifted with special presents that includes stationaries for education, a DSI voucher to purchase footwear, and some toys to spend their leisure time.

The children of the centre has further requested the CDS to take them to the beach as they have never visited. Accordingly, General Shavendra Silva promised to take them to the beach and arrange a dinner at the earliest possible.

The day’s event culminated with a special musical programme performed by the Sri Lanka Army Music Band at the centre.
