OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF CELEBRATES SINHALA AND HINDU NEW YEAR
The annual Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival organized by the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff was held on 11 April 2016 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls College Grounds, Colombo 7.
The proceedings of the day were inaugurated by Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, the Chief of Defence Staff and Mrs. Roshani Gunatilleke who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest with the participation of officers, other ranks and civilians with their families.
The New Year Festival which was held for the third consecutive year had many traditional and fun filled Avurudu games and events which provided a wonderful opportunity for the staff of the OCDS to relax and enjoy.This event was comprised of a number of entertaining features and most of elders and kids enthusiastically participated in all events such as pillow-fighting, kanamutti bindeema, placing the eye of the elephant, lime & spoon, balloon race, eggs throwing, sacks race, musical chairs, finding of hidden guest, etc.
