OUTGOING U.S DEPUTY DEFENCE ATTACHÉ CALLS-ON CDS
The outgoing Deputy Defence Attaché to the Embassy of the United States of America to Sri Lanka, Mr. Jacob English paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne this morning (02nd October). He was also accompanied by Ms. Kareen Gleisner, the in-coming Deputy Defence Attaché to the Embassy of the United States in Colombo. The courtesy call was held at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff(OCDS), at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall(BMICH). A cordial discussion was held between the officials followed an exchange of mementos marking the occasion. Admiral Wijegunaratne expressed his gratitude to Mr. Jacob for the unprecedented support extended during his tenure at office in reinforcing the bilateral defence relations and cooperation between the two states. The U.S-Sri Lanka defence relations were elevated into new heights since 2015, specially on combined military training focused on HA/DR operations, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges and professional training opportunities to the armed forces and port visits. The U.S Marines were instrumental in the formation of Sri Lanka Navy 's Marine Battalions early this year.
