THE PRESIDENT AND OFFICE BEARERS OF ARFRO VISIT CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

The President of the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) Air Chief Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala (Retd) RWP RSP VSV USP MPhil (Def & Strat) MSc (Def Stud) in Mgt FIM (SL) ndc psc and the office bearers, made a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil morning today (18 March) at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS).

General Shavendra Silva warmly welcomed the delegation and thanked the initiative taken to meet the CDS in line with one of its objectives to advise when necessary. The CDS also requested the members of the ARFRO to visit and share their wealth of experience regularly with the serving military hierarchy and forward necessary suggestions for the betterment of the Tri-Services and the nation at large. Further, by considering the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, General Shavendra Silva forwarded his suggestions to the ARFRO. Speaking with the visiting members of the ARFRO, General Shavendra Silva commended the progress of the association whilst assuring continued assistance whenever necessary.

During the brief discussion, the visiting delegation thanked the CDS for the assistance extended to the Association over the past. They further briefed the CDS on the progress of the organization and future plans of the ARFRO. They also extended their gratitude for the valued insights the CDS shared during the meeting.

ARFRO is a professional body comprised of Retired Flag Rank Officers of the Tri-Services of Sri Lanka and came into being in 1996.

To mark the occasion, the President of ARFRO presented the Journal of the ARFRO to the CDS and General Shavendra Silva reciprocated by presenting a memento. The visiting delegation was comprised of the Immediate Past President Major General L C R Goonewardena (Retd) RSP VSV USP, the Secretary Rear Admiral A V Abeyasena (Retd), the Vice Presidents Rear Admiral Deshabandu DS Molligoda (Retd) VSV USP and Major General MDS Chandrapala (Retd) RWP RSP VSV USP of ARFRO.
