RETURNING COVID-19 INFECTED INDIAN NATIONAL ADMITTED TO MULLERIYAWA HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT

Sri Lankan airport authorities in close coordination with members of the Presidential Task Force for Prevention of COVID-19 and the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), extending magnanimity and the highest concern for humanity, facilitated the immediate admission of a COVID-19 infected Indian passenger to the Mulleriyawa Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) after he was turned back from Doha, Qatar. The transit passenger on Wednesday (17th June 2020) on board the 6E - 9091 Indigo flight had arrived from Mumbai at 1730 hrs and was in transit at the Colombo Airport until the QR - 669 flight from Colombo flew him to the destination, Doha on Thursday (18th June 2020) at 0315 hrs. However, Qatar airport authorities having diagnosed him as positive to COVID-19 on arrival there have advised him to return to Colombo aboard the QR - 668 flight which touched down Colombo during small hours on Friday (19th June 2020) at 0135 hrs. Sri Lankan authorities promptly acted fast giving priority to his condition and got him admitted to the IDH by 0215 hrs, in less than just 45 minutes for immediate treatment after the Doha Flight arrived at the Colombo airport this morning (19th June 2020).
