THE SECOND CYBER SECURITY TRAINING PROGRAMME IS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

In line with the annual training programme of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS), the second Cyber Security awareness programme successfully culminated on 22.06.2023 at the Auditorium of Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Mutwal.

Under the direction and guidance of the Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, second programme of the year was conducted for 60 middle grade offices of the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, and Air Force at the approval of the Ministry of Defence for the worthy cause.

This training programme is organised by the OCDS with the intention of promoting the awareness of the officers of the defence sector on the basics of Cyber Security and related concepts. The sessions of the day emphasised the subject areas such as Cloud Computing, Insider Threats, Best Practices, Social Engineering, and Future Trends. The fruitful study pack was conducted by a professionally qualified team of instructors from the Sri Lanka Army and Navy.

Delivering the opening remarks of the day’s programme, the Director General Operations of the OCDS Major General M S Devapriya USP ndc highlighted the importance of the subject field and the measures to defend devices and services from electronic attacks. He further encouraged to broaden the knowledge of Cyber Security, particularly as the members of the Security Forces to effectively address the modern threats related to National Security.

The programme was also attended by a number of tri-services offices of the OCDS.
