THE SECOND PHASE OF THE ‘SENEHASE THILINA’ INAUGURATED

The visionary initiative of His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe to ensure the food security and nutrition of the people was triggered with the commencement of the second phase of the National Food Security and Nutrition Programme; ‘Anchor - Senehase Thilina’ this morning (11 October 2023) at Homagama Divisional Secretariat with the gracious presence of the National Security Advisor, Mr Sagala Ratnayaka as the chief guest.

This national endeavour was coordinated by the National Security Advisor’s Office with the collaboration of the Green Agriculture Operations Centre. ‘Anchor’ (Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt) Ltd), furnished the programme by providing the necessary nutritious resources. The programme is aimed at ensuring food security and nutrition among low income families whereas 70,000 deserving families in the country have been selected to be benefited under this phase.

Addressing the gathering, the National Security Advisor expressed his gratitude to Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt) Ltd for voluntarily supporting this national endeavour. He also symbolically handed over nutritional packs to the selected few needy families during the ceremony.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the Head of the Green Agriculture Operations Centre, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil attended this inaugural ceremony at the invitation extended by the Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. During the ceremony, the CDS expressed his appreciation to the Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt) Ltd for supporting the welfare effort. He also stated that the products of the company are famous among the public not only due to their quality but also for the social welfare.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by the General Manager - Sri Lanka & Local Emerging Markets, Fonterra Brands Lanka, Mr Fazlan Faizal, Divisional Secretary - Homagama Mr B A D Chinthaka, representatives of the Divisional Secretariat and Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, and selected beneficiaries of the Homagama Division.
