THE SECURITY OF THE INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS CONSIDERED

A coordinating conference was presided by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil to ensure a safer conduct of the 75th Independence Day Celebrations at the Office of Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) on 09 January 2023.

Addressing the attendees, the CDS gave away the guidelines to streamline the security and related matters of the event. During the meeting he emphasised the importance of a proper and effective coordination among the Tri-Services and Police. He further elaborated the means that to be followed to meet the highest security standards and need of planning for every eventuality in advance.

The event was attended by respective Principal Staff Officers of Tri-Services, Director State Intelligence Service, DIG (Traffic) Colombo, and number of Tri-Services and Police representatives.
