SRI LANKA MILITARY BAND PERFORMED IN THE SPASSKAYA TOWER (MOSCOW) INTERNATIONAL MILITARY MUSIC FESTIVAL
\"The Sri Lankan Military Band\" composed of Sri Lanka Army, Navy and the Air force performed during the 11th International Military Music Festival SPASSKAYA Tower on the Red Square in Moscow, Russia on 19th August to 02nd September 2018, for the first time in history. The Band Masters of Military bands called on CDS today (05th September) on their return to Island. \r\n\r\nThe Brass Bands of 11 countries including Russia, UK, Monaco, Netherlands, Oman, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Sri Lanka, Mexico and Myanmar performed at this year 's event. Sri Lankan Military band was comprising with 04 officers and 48 other ranks lead by Colonel Samson Jayakody. The Defence Secretary, Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia, His Excellency Dr. Dayan Jayathilake and Major General Harendra Perera also participated in the event representing Sri Lankan Government as invitees. The SPASSKAYA Tower International Military Music Festival is an annual military music event and military tattoo held in Moscow on Red Square. Participants in the festival are Russian and foreign military bands, Folk groups, and the Honor Guard Units of foreign countries. \r\n\r\nThe band participated in main social and cultural events, including formal state events and military parades. \r\n\r\n
