STANDING IN SOLIDARITY: CONDOLENCES FROM THE CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF OF SRI LANKA TO THE KENYAN DEFENCE FORCES

In a solemn moment of shared grief, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Sri Lanka, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, extends heartfelt condolences to the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF), their families, and the entire nation of Kenya, following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of courageous members of your esteemed ranks.

It is with profound sorrow that General Shavendra Silva acknowledges the passing of the Chief of Defence Forces of Kenya General Francis Omondi Ogolla EGH EBS HSC 'ndc' (K) 'psc' (FRA), in this tragic incident. His exceptional leadership, extensive experience, and profound military expertise were not only invaluable assets to the Kenyan Defence Forces, but they also served as guiding beacons for the entire military community. General Francis Ogolla’s departure represents an enormous loss, leaving behind a deep void that proves challenging to fill and his absence would be keenly felt by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him, benefiting from his wisdom, and cherishing his presence.

General Shavendra Silva recalls with deep appreciation and gratitude the recent meeting with, General Francis Ogolla where he was warmly and respectfully welcomed, and great hospitality was extended during the meeting. The CDS recollects with utmost respect General Ogolla’s plans, which were expressed during the discussions, for greater cooperation between the Kenyan armed forces and Sri Lankan armed forces, foreseeing mutual benefits for both countries and the African region as a whole. This reflects the strong bonds of camaraderie and mutual respect that exist between our armed forces and nations.

The loss of these brave individuals from the Kenyan Defence Forces is profoundly felt by us all. Their dedication, valour, and unwavering commitment to duty serve as an inspiration to Defence Forces worldwide. Their sacrifice will forever be remembered and honoured.
