THAI PRIME MINISTER WAS RECEIVED WITH STATE HONOURED TRI-SERVICE GUARD OF HONOUR

Amidst a vibrant display of cultural heritage and traditions, Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin arrived in Sri Lanka today (03 February) to grace the 76th Independence Day as the Guest of Honour.

On his arrival, respecting the diplomatic protocols, the visiting Prime Minister Thavisin was welcomed to the Presidential Secretariat with traditional Sri Lankan way astride the road having cultural dancers and ceremonially dressed cavalcade where His Excellency the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe with the red carpet reception.

Thereafter, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil invited the day’s guest and His Excellency the President to the special saluting dais for the Tri-Service Guard of Honour.

Following the protocol, a Guard of Honour was accorded to the visiting Prime Minister Thavisin. As a mark of respect and honour for the visiting Head of State, the sound of 19 gun salutes reverberated through the air, underscoring the significance of the occasion and the deepening bonds between Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Afterwards, His Excellency the President introduced the hosting delegation attended including Honourable Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Ministers, National Security Advisor, Secretaries to Ministries, and the CDS. There, the visiting Prime Minister also introduced his delegation to the President of Sri Lanka.

The dignified state ceremony was also attended by parliamentarians, Tri-Service Commanders and senior state officials, underscoring the importance attached to fostering bilateral understanding and cooperation between the two nations.
