TÜRKIYE FOOD FESTIVAL UNVEILED AT COLOMBO

The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Colombo organised the Türkiye Food Festival, an event dedicated to showcasing the rich and diverse cuisine of Türkiye which made Türkiye an attractive tourist destination, in the evening hours of 14 September 2023 at the Grand Sapphire of Courtyard by Marriott Colombo, Colombo City Centre.

The Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil attended the unique food festival at the cordial invitation extended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Colombo Her Excellency R Demet Sekercioglu and Mr M Atif Sekercioglu. The special festival provided an opportunity for connoisseurs and food enthusiasts to indulge in a variety of traditional Turkish dishes.

The hotel was transformed into a Turkish culinary haven, featuring traditional dishes. Guests could savour mouthwatering kebabs, fragrant rice pilafs, flaky pastries, and more, all while immersing themselves in the cultural significance of these flavours.

The Turkish Food Festival also served as a tribute to Türkiye’s culinary excellence, symbolising the enduring partnerships and collaborations within the hospitality industry. The festival was an unforgettable occasion for the guests who embarked on a culinary odyssey that paid homage to Türkiye’s rich gastronomic culture.

The ceremony was also attended by many diplomats, parliamentarians, a number of dignitaries and invitees related to the field.
