WAR HEROES WERE BLESSED WITH JAYA PIRITH CHANTING AT SANDAHIRU SEYA

In parallel to the 14th Commemoration of the National War Heroes that got underway on 19th May 2023 at the War Memorial premises in Parliament Grounds, a Jaya Pirith chanting ceremony was held at the Sandahiru Seya premises yesterday (20th May 2023), in Anuradhapura which was built to commemorate the heroic war heroes who made great sacrifices for the unity of the motherland and to mark the end of the three decade drawn war.

The overnight Jaya Pirith chanting ceremony took place with the supervision of Most Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana, the Atamasthanadhipathi and the Chief Prelate of the Nuwara Kalaviya and the Maha Sangha to invoke blessings to the fallen, wounded and under treatment war heroes, serving and retired Tri-Service and Police members.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil attended blissful evening joining the colourful procession that carried the sacred casket and the Piruwana Poth Wahanse to the elegantly decorated Pirith chamber.

The State Minister of Defence, Hon Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Tri-Service Commanders, and many serving and retired members of the Tri-Services were also among the attendees.
