WITHIN 24 HRS 186 MORE POSITIVE CASES REPORTED – NOCPCO

As of this morning (21), a total of 186 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 06 of them were expatriates ( 3 from Japan quarantined at Mandara Resort Mirissa, 1 from Qatar quarantined at Pelwehera QC, 2 from Russia quarantined at SLAGSC QC) and the rest 180 were locally-identified close contacts of Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO). By 6.00 this morning (21), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory stands at 2344. Of them, 1,041 are factory employees and other 1303 are locally-identified contacts of those garment factory-infected employees. Within the day (21), 510 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 13 persons are from Nipuna Boossa QC, 15 persons from Biyagama Village QC, 05 persons from Airport Wing Hub QC, 25 persons from Koggala Resort QC, 10 persons from Periyakadu Resort QC, 25 persons from Pampemadu QC, 257 persons from Brandix Punani QC, 145 persons from Sigiri Village QC, 01 person from Jetwing Blue QC and 01 more from Kamilet Beach QC. To-date, 55,432 individuals have left for homes after quarantining. As of this morning (21), 8,323 persons in 74 tri-service-managed QCs (Army - 63, Navy - 7, Air Force - 4) are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (20), 8,021 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 398,196. By 6.00 this morning (21), 17 fully-recovered COVID-19 affectees were discharged from hospitals. 03 of them are expatriates and 14 are identified as close contacts of Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at QCs.
