CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF ADDRESSES THE OCDS STAFF FOR THE NEW YEAR
A ceremony to mark the first working day of the year 2016 was held in the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff at 0900 hours on 1st January 2016, with the patronage of Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, the Chief of Defence Staff.
The ceremony commenced with hoisting the National Flag and all present singing the National Anthem. After observing two minutes silence to honour the nation 's fallen heroes, Oath of Public Servants were read aloud by all present with pride.
The Chief of Defence Staff addressed the Director Generals, Directors, officers, other ranks and civilian staff of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff. In His message the CDS commended the hard work put in by each and every person towards success during the previous year, and emphasized the importance of a honest dedication to achieve more success in the new year, whilst using own past experiences positively.
The official ceremony concluded with breakfast for all ranks.
