OCDS CONTINUES TRAINING ON CYBERSECURITY

Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) conducted a one-day awareness programme on Cyber Security yesterday (26th April 2023) at the Auditorium of Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Mutwal.

Under the guidance and the visionary leadership of Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, and the approval of the Ministry of Defence, another training programme on Cyber Security unfolded with the participation of 60 middle-grade Tri-Service officers.

This timely training programme focused on creating awareness of the basics of Cyber Security and related concepts such as Cloud Computing, Insider Threats, Best Practices, Social Engineering, and Future Trends was conducted by a professionally qualified team of instructors from the Sri Lanka Army and Navy.

Rear Admiral Asanga Ranasooriya RSP & Bar USP psc, the Director General Naval & Air Operations of OCDS delivering the opening remarks of the day’s programme highlighted that cyber security is a discipline that covers how to defend devices and services from electronic attacks by nefarious actors such as hackers, spammers, and cybercriminals. He further emphasised the importance of broadening the knowledge of Cyber Security, particularly as the members of the Security Forces to effectively address the modern threats related to National Security.
