In a poignant gesture of gratitude and respect, the staff of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) bid a heartfelt farewell to General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil on the eve of his retirement.

Marking the conclusion of a remarkable and decorated military career, the incumbent Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, will retire from active service as the Chief of Defence Staff with effect from 1st January 2025.

The Sri Lanka Army bid a heartfelt farewell to General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), as he made his official visit to Army Headquarters on 31 December 2024, marking the conclusion of his illustrious military career. This momentous occasion celebrated the culmination of a remarkable journey of one of the finest military leaders ever produced by the Sri Lanka Army.

General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), paid an official farewell visit to Air Force Headquarters on 30 December, ahead of his retirement from active military service on 1 January 2025. This visit marked a significant milestone in his illustrious military career, underscoring the strong cooperation cultivated among the armed forces during his tenure.
